My Commitment To You

I believe in Consuming Less and Creating More. We help high-trust organizations (like summer camps who look after other people's children) use online marketing tools.

Speaking is one of my absolute favourite parts of my job - I will give this hours of commitment.   I have found that for every hour of speaking it can take up to 6 hours of preparation.   You will get a presentation that will give you concrete actions to take to improve your camp.  It will surprise you, inspire you and inform you.

It's hard to find just the right speaker.   I have been involved in organizing many conferences and events I know that an engaging speaker, with a sense of humour and great knowledge, can make or break an event.

My hope is that this page will make it easy for you to get the information you need to make the best decision possible.

I attended a session you co-ran this year at Tri-States (the one on great alumni). It was my first time having the opportunity to see you “live”. It was honestly the best organized and run Tri-State session I think I’ve ever attended. The two (Tom Holland) of you had clearly defined with each other who would cover what and knew when to talk and when to give space. I left truly impressed both with your knowledge, but even more importantly, your ability to convey that knowledge to others. Thank you!

My Most Popular Summer Camp Presentations

What Lady Gaga can Teach us About Building Great Camp Community:  Little Monsters - one thing camp people have in common with Lady Gaga. No, I'm not referring to our campers, I mean that we have affectionate nicknames for the important people in our life.

Lady Gaga is a top-selling music artist because she is amazing at building and looking after her community (whom she calls her Little Monsters).   Camp Leaders can learn a lot (and will in this session) from how Lady Gaga's treats her True Fans.

Stop Marketing To Yourself: Go after those the other camps are leaving behind: When you look at your website carefully how much of the content is aimed at attracting clients that don't know you and know nothing about summer camp?  Is your newsletter written for people who are considering your camp or those who already attend?   In this session Travis Allison will show you 5 marketing strategies aimed at reaching out to families who are not already your clients.  The process is simple and can set you apart from other camps in your market.

10 Things Every Camp Should Do On YouTube:

YouTube is an essential marketing tool for any summer camp that wants to be relevant to today's families.   Research shows us that customers are 65% of the way through their buying decision before they will pick up the phone to call a camp.    This means that you must use any tools you can to answer ALL of their questions before they make the first contact with you.

By carefully crafting your YouTube strategy using these 10 strategies you will be one of the camps that parent's will consider.

Learning from Toyota, Engineering a Kaizen Camp (co-presented with Jack Schott from Camping Coast to Coast)  What are you doing to maximize the value of what you offer at camp while reducing your wasted resources?  Toyota has been able to inspire their staff to be constantly searching for ways to improve their processes.    A summer camp that can get their staff thinking this way will be able to make things run smoother and reduce costs in areas such as opening/closing day; swimming checks; kitchen and maintenance supply ordering; medication delivery; meal preparation and delivery.

On behalf of the American Camp Association, Western North Carolina EPIC group, thank you so much for making the journey to NC for the Winter Retreat.
The entire weekend was everything we hoped: reinvigorating, full of thoughtful discussion, and enhanced by the tight community. Were truly fortunate to have you with us the entire time.
