When I was a counsellor at the Celtic Sports and Arts Centre, our directors (a husband and wife team named Lumpy and Hainey) read to the entire camp the book Love You Forever by Robert Munsch. It was a GMIC (Great Moment in Camping - hat tip to Jeff Bradshaw for that brilliant idea).
Since that time I have kept Love You Forever in my Kid Kit for quiet moments at camp. One thing that I never got quite right was the tune of the song that the mom sings to her son.
Happily, I can now refer back to The Man.
Robert Munsch sings Love You Forever.
It's funny... I have very strong associations of Robert Munsch stories and camp.
- when I was a first year camper we had a LIT that I LOVED and she would tell the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1550374680?ie=UTF8&tag=camph-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=1550374680">Mud Puddle</a> story. She was so animated at that I can hear her voice to this day
- Love You Forever read and sung by the flagpole at Celtic at the end of the night after campfire
- Peche (one of our staff) dressing up as <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002VGW66M?ie=UTF8&tag=camph-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B002VGW66M">Mortimer</a> and singing his face off. Awesome.
What stories do you associate with camp?
